Step 3 – Your assignment: from social issue to AR concept

Now it is your turn!

The assignment

Choose a social or societal issue that matters to you or your community.

Design an AR artwork that tells a story about this issue in a public space.

This is a conceptual assignment. You do not need to build the AR artwork technically. Focus on idea, meaning, and imagination.

What to work on (in small groups - 2 to 4 students)

Discuss and define:

  1. The social issue

    • What topic do you choose?

      • Examples of themes (optional):

      • Climate & sustainability

      • Inequality / inequality of opportunity

      • Mental health

      • Waste, consumption & circularity

      • Local community / traditions

    • Motivate your choice.

  2. The message

    • What do you want people to feel, think, or question?

    • What story are you telling?

  3. The form

    • What does your AR artwork look like?

    • Is it a sculpture, symbol, object, or abstract form?

    • Create a manual or digital sketch

  4. The location

    • Where would this AR artwork appear?

    • Why is this location meaningful for your story?

  5. The interaction

    • How do people experience the artwork?

    • Do they walk around it, discover it, or encounter it unexpectedly?
